What is a good way to practice marching bass drum at my house?
My school has drumline auditions in a few days, and I really need to practice a lot if I want to make bass drum. I tried just using a normal Drum Pad, but I want to find a way so my technique will get better.
if you're going to be doing marching bass drum you are going to want to practice controlling your recoil on the drum head and practice GETTING a good recoil on rim hits. for maintaing recoil I went next to my couch so that I could hit the back-cushions and use the top for rim hits, and for getting recoil on rim hits I bounced the stick off of the top area of my dresser. If you don't have any bass-beaters use some timpani mallets, and if u weren't required to have those then try to wad up some small towels on the end of some drum sticks.
